Once again Call of Duty will return to dominate holiday sales with one of the best selling franchises in the video game market. Unlike the last installment this one will be created by Infinity Ward who are the original developers of the Modern Warfare series. If you haven’t seen by now , Infinity Ward and Trearch take turns creating the Call of Duty series, and each developer has their own special features they like to apply to their perspective game.
The prior game , Call of Duty: Black Ops was produced by Trearch. They focus more on battles that have taken place all throughout history and include features such as the very popular Zombie modes. While on the other side is Infinity Ward. Their Modern Warfare series adds the very addicting spec-ops mode and arguably one of the best multi-player experiences on any console. Infinity Ward usually bases their battles on events at have happened more recently.
The development team at Infinity Ward has undergone some substantial changes since the last version was released. The companies founders and several other developers have left the company after a dispute with Activision. Many believe this will affect the quality of the game. If the past is any indication then we have nothing to be concerned about.
In addition to the multi player is the fantastic single player mode which takes place all over the world.. I have enjoyed the previous campaigns of the Call of Duty series and I am sure I will enjoy this one as well. But, for me and probably everyone else out there , the main attraction is the online multi-player. I’m not sure at this point what new features will be included in that game but I have read that there will be some new perks and kill streaks that will make the game play more interesting than before. Another rumor that I have run across is that there will be dedicated servers for online play. This would be great news if true as we wouldnt have to suffer through as many server disconnects. We have all been in thos games where the host will leave the game just as the game starts leaving everyone hanging while the game finds a new host.
When November gets here you’ll also notice another big FPS franchise releasing a game at the same time. Battlefield 3 is releasing ahead of Modern Warfare 3 and will surely add some competition to the mix. I think Modern Warfare 3 will easily win the fight but Battlefield 3 is still a great game. I plan on picking up both and playing them, while I know I will spend more time in Modern Warfare 3.
Along with these few things I have mentioned , I’m sure there will be many more updates to Modern Warfare 3 that make the playing of the game more enjoyable. Looking forward to November.
